ATTACKED IN HER BEDROOM The Sault Police Service is investigating an assault and break and enter to a residence in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue that occurred early yesterday morning.

The City Police Service has been kept busy for the past twenty-four hours with 16 arrests since 7am Friday all for relatively minor infractions such as intoxication in a public place and breaches of undertakings. There have been no serious accidents.

MORE BEARS IN THE CITY Since yesterday morning, the city police service has responded to 6 more bear calls. The bears were sighted in the backyards of residences in Fort Creek, the 300 block of Brule Road and Ascot/Durban Road.

(Updated 2:50pm, Thur June 27) FATAL ACCIDENT On June 26, shortly before 1:00 a.m., the Sault Fire Service was at the 400 block of Douglas Street to attend to a downed hydro wire.

FATAL ACCIDENT A fatal accident occurred in the Sault at 1:00 a.m. today. A 58-year-old female was struck by an eastbound pick-up tuck on Douglas Street in the 400 block area. The driver of the pick-up was a 56-year-old male.

ARREST IN SCHOOL BREAK-IN On June 20, patrol officers answered an alarm at Sir James Dunn High School. A window had been broken and thieves entered the school stealing a small quantity of chocolate bars used for fund raising.

From Friday at 6pm until this morning at 6am, police responded to 11 more nuisance bear calls in various wooded areas of the city. The animals caused no injury or damage.

City police had a fairly quiet night last night. There were five arrests. Three were for being intoxicated in a public place and two were for breaches of parole. Police report two bear sightings near the airport.

City Police had a busy twenty-four hours with 15 arrests mainly for breach of parole, assault and the usual number of drunks. One motorist was charged with impaired driving.

LIZARD ON THE LOOSE City police officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of Kingsford Road. A pet lizard got loose around 1:00 p.m. and was at large. The lizard is 2 ½ feet long and greenish yellow in colour.
